Discipline policy: a loving philosophy
Centerpointe uses redirection, constructive and preventive methods of discipline to guide and teach the children. It is our intention to encourage their success in social interactions. Our guidance is always tempered with love and genuine care for each individual child.
Teachers provide models of calm, pleasant and respectful behavior. The staff continuously monitors the classrooms and playground to find opportunities to teach helping behaviors, and help children be successful with conflict resolution. Teachers direct behaviors toward positive outcomes and create age-appropriate activities from which children can choose. Good conflict resolution and problem solving skills are very important to learn at a young age.
Nut Free Environment
Because children in our preschool have diagnosed peanut and/or nut allergies, which can produce a severe reaction if he/she comes into contact with any type of peanut and/or nuts or peanut and/or nut products, we would like to do everything we can to make the preschool as safe as possible. For this reason, the preschool is a peanut/nut safe zone. For our part, we will not knowingly serve anything to an allergic child that may contain peanut and/or nut products.
We are asking that all families do everything possible to ensure that any food sent for their child (including lunches and special snacks) and food items to share with the class do not contain any peanut and/or nut related products. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and peanut/nut-free zone.
Illness and Medication Policies
To provide a safe and healthy environment for all students, the school has in place an illness and medication policy. A copy is available on request from the Preschool Office and the policy is also included in the Parent Handbook. Please click here for a summary of the illness policy.
